Rewrite Blog Post Experience

Rewrite Experience After reviewing the comments left on my post and rewriting the post based off the ideas and feedback my peers left for me I know have more of and idea on how to improve my writing for the future and progress in knowing more about what I'm writing about. it also gave me more time to do more research on media ethics since there wasn't much I had to change about the post I just got a better grasp on what I was fully researching and writing about. I also got to make it for informative especially explain what and where the medium is the message came from. So I went into more detail after the first paragraph as one of my peers recommended which helped the overall enjoyment of the blog. So the overall experience I had rewriting my last blog post was a positive one I believe but obviously my future blog posts will be greatly improved know since I've had some feedback on one of my posts. It will take t...

Week 9 Another Revision Rewrite #2

Week 9 Rewrite #2 Media Ethics Link to the original piece  Media Ethics (shanecdmblog.blogspot.com) After watching all of the media ethics videos for week 6, I've compiled a list of my opinions on how each video relates to media ethics. One of the main thoughts that came to mind while watching all of the videos was how, especially in the first video, he explains how the medium is the message, and one of the conclusions I came to was that how one portrays/represents the message they are giving has a significant impact on the person you are messaging. The channels have significantly more influence on society's essential shape and nature than any message provided through that medium. The Medium is the Message The medium is the message is such a interesting quote because what actually does this quote mean or where does it come from firstly the medium is the message    is a phrase coined by the Canadian communication theorist Marshall McLuhan and the name of the fi...

Media literacy Week 4 Reading Task

WEEK 4 READING TASK After thoroughly reading through the two opinion pieces and the journal by Vraga and Smithson I have gathered some thoughts and I would like talk about what I found most interesting and what I found most difficult to understand. When reading through the first opinion piece I couldn't help to be interested in is that 62% of people are highly worried about misinformation online. Obviously getting false information online isn't the best but its probably because you didn't get real and trustworthy sources so you can only blame yourself for believing the first thing you see or hear online. Especially when they talked about misinformation on Covid-19 they stated " Across the first month of lockdown nearly half (48%) of Northern Ireland respondents say they had come across false or misleading information about Covid-19 in the previous week". this is obviously not good but the good thing is that only 5% that came across misleading information would f...

Video task week 8 Technological Evolution

Image
Video task week 8 After watching and analyzing all the videos for the week 8 video task. The idea we were looking at this week is the history of digital media and how it has evolved since it has begun.  In the first video it gives a general idea invented dating back to 100,00 BC to 2021 its crazy to see the change especially the technological achievements that have happened in the space of almost 20 years. And for example ideas that were invented millions of years ago are still hugely reliable in todays society for example the wheel which was invented back in 3500 BC. Like such basic ideas nowadays like the magnetic compass which was invented in 200 BC back then that would've been a outstanding worldwide breakthrough but nowadays most people would never use a compass even though there would be one on your phone nowadays people would just use the internet to find out where they are or where to go. In this second video they talk about the history of media literacy dating all th...

Beginning and Finishing Production Week 8 Project Task

WEEK 8 PROJECT TASK this weeks project task was mainly based on us planning out the video of the video project for example who will speak about what and when will the people speak in the video. So the video will be around 5-6 minutes long and there is four people in my group so each of us will have around one and a half minutes in the video. the theme is moral panic and culture wars and the idea is to have two people focus on moral panics and the other two to focus on the culture wars. So one in the group of  two will explain what either moral panics or culture wars is and then the other person in the group will give examples of either moral panics or culture wars that has happened before or which is still happening. The plan is to have our voices over images and videos of moral panics and culture wars. We are still thinking about a title for the video but we will obviously get one whenever we finish the production stage. We are also considering what we wi...

Peer Review #2

PEER REVIEW #2 Week 8 Reading Task -- The first blog post I was assigned is Megan's post about media ethics below is the link to the original blog post by Megan. Media Ethics (darjasidmblog.blogspot.com)   After reviewing and giving feedback to Darja's blog I learned using the SPARK method Firstly I looked at the specific details which Darja was giving in her blog then I tried to find out the information that she left out and tried to give her feedback on that and say you could've done this instead of another thing. So when Darja reads back over my feedback she will know for the next blog post she will be able to improve i=even more from the last time. Peer feedback is all about just helping your peers to improve from the point there at now. I could've even referenced where I found the information to improve on her blog post but I did not but that is also something that could help theme even more -- The second blog post i gave peer...

LAB 05 PHOTOS  this photo was shot in ISO 800 F/9 1/1000 S Wanted to get the negative space of the tree and then the rhythm of the birds flying in the background It was a gloomy day out so I went with the darker tones in this picture instead of the bright colours. This photo was taken in ISO 800 F/9 1/4000 S This photo was based on compositional design elements mostly the horizontal and vertical lines such as the top of the building and the pole to the left hand side.  the next photo as taken in ISO 800 f/9 1/640 S This photo is based more on the vertical lines in the tree and also the horizontal lines across the tree line

Media Ethics

Image
WEEK 6 VIDEO TASK After watching all the videos for week 6 on Media ethics. I have gathered some thoughts about how each video really relate to the media ethics. One of the main thoughts that i was thinking of whilst i was engaging in all the videos was the idea of how especially in the first video how he is explaining about how the medium is the message, one of the thoughts i gathered from that is how one portrays/represents the message they are giving really has a significant impact on the person you are messaging. The mediums have a far greater impact on the fundamental shape and nature of society than any message that is delivered through that medium. In the second video there was many thoughts that i gathered whilst watching the video. How to this day Dr Aleksandr Kogan still believes what he did was just and legal and he believe because he had a close working relationship with Facebook he had the right to obtain data from over 87 million profiles on Facebook....
