Video task week 8 Technological Evolution
Video task week 8
After watching and analyzing all the videos for the week 8 video task. The idea we were looking at this week is the history of digital media and how it has evolved since it has begun.
In the first video it gives a general idea invented dating back to 100,00 BC to 2021 its crazy to see the change especially the technological achievements that have happened in the space of almost 20 years. And for example ideas that were invented millions of years ago are still hugely reliable in todays society for example the wheel which was invented back in 3500 BC. Like such basic ideas nowadays like the magnetic compass which was invented in 200 BC back then that would've been a outstanding worldwide breakthrough but nowadays most people would never use a compass even though there would be one on your phone nowadays people would just use the internet to find out where they are or where to go.
In this second video they talk about the history of media literacy dating all the way back to around 300 BC Because back then information was majority spread by word of mouth because if you lucky or rich in this time you might've shared media through letters or codices or you may have study alongside a master or scholar and learned from handmade manuscripts but these were very expensive and time consuming to make so very few people had to the means to learn how to read and write. But When Johannes Gutenberg invented the first printing press which made the spread of media much easier and more people began to learn how to read and write. This leads towards the 17th century when the first mass produced newspaper came on the street. These spread like wildfire and because they were so cheap everyone had it and everyone knew the news and everyone was informed on the news.
In the third video it leads on from the last video and talks more todays digital media literacy as in the first motion pictures so its not all about just reading and writing anymore you can now also start to watch the news well that's if you have the money at the time. And now its not about who is being informed about the media is more what sort of media is being given t o the public and try to control what news they hear and don't hear. This type of media growing in the 20th century is called Protectionism this is comes in different forms Cultural Defensiveness, Political Defensiveness and Moral Defensiveness.
In the Third video it talks about What will the future of jobs be like?. In my opinion i do believe that technology is getting so advanced that i do think that in 5 years 85 million jobs will be replaced by some sort technology. But i do also believe that they way technology is going it will make it easier for people to work with it so it will in fact make more jobs. I feel like not only in their job will they need to adapt I think everyone in there normal life will have to adapt to the new technology coming out in the coming years. On the other hand I don't think you can fully replace the human connections in some sorts of jobs.
In the fourth video it discusses about the future of the digital society in 2030. Self driving cars, AI, Human and robotic workforce all this sort of sounds scary to me especially the self driving cars in my opinion yes the technology inside will know what's its doing but i just wouldn't fully trust it. There is some Interesting concepts supposedly in the works for 2030 but most of them are just insane. Im not fully sure if there will be a proper full robotic AI by 2030 but when it does happen that will change everything.
