 Media Representation Week 10 Video Task

After watching and analyzing all the videos for the week 10 video task. the idea behind all the videos and information I've gathered is that we examined the ethics of Media and the potential implications For Society, looking particular of representation in media.

First Video

In the first video It is a series of people explaining why representation matters and how it effects everyone. I learned it was a way i which people evaluate others in what they look like or what they love to do. There are multiple things that need to be represented such as the people or the culture in which the people grew up in which is severely important. And it is important that people can feel like they can watch the content and resign ate with it. I liked the quote " people who can not be represented can not be remembered " was one of the groups mottos so now they try to portray different people with different cultures just so more people could resign ate with the content that they are watching. 

Second Video

In the second video he talks about Stuart Halls Representation Theory and he explains it. At the start he goes through representation displayed in the media such as Donald Trump by how many different ways he was represented in the media because it was based on peoples opinions rather than facts. In the video it looks at how the media literally represents reality be it social groups events places anything really and it looks at actually accurate these representations are against reality. The media is what gives meaning to these events either that be a good meaning or a bad meaning. Its still crazy to me till this day that society just lets these rich white males have the power to give the media a meaning off their opinion. This is why some people cant grasp the reality of such topics such as black Lives Matter or Gay Rights because the media in some places is wrong because of the people in power and that's where we get the information from  is the media. The representation of the subjects I said above are truly represented in the media through stereotypes.

Third Video

In the third video it is about the representation of female leadership in todays society. In todays world there are many women who are much more capable in being in power over  most the men in power today. But as it stated in the video in the past women running for power were always stereotyped or sexualised to a point where the men win. In todays world its not as bad as it used to be but it still happens and its happening still there are very few women in power because women are scared to run for power because they seen what happens to them. The story with Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton is insane but that's what happens and its immoral and wrong but we cant just change it in a few years. There is women in power at the moment such as Tsai Ing-wen she is the current president of  the republic of China since 2016. She is just one of some that are in power in todays society but if women look up to the women in power now and step up it would be amazing to see. But society is just dumb that women even have to worry about running for power, obviously they should worry about the job but they shouldn't be worried about the abuse they get just of people that stereotype women.
